Pool time, Spiders and 10 years!

Pool_pic

So its been so long since I have posted anything.  Life is slowing down and I am looking forward to the summer  which is right around the corner with my kids. I worked out a great work schedule for the summer....Tuesdays and Fridays so the rest of the days can be spent in our pool with the kids. AHHHHH.......wonderful.

Mike and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Its really hard to believe that it has been that long. Saturday night we went to dinner at Nagoyas Japanese Steakhouse in Port Clinton. A huge $112.00 bill. The drinks really add up. Usually I am the responsible one to drive but that all changed Saturday night. Mike had to drive back to Cedarlane. We spent the night there then came home yesterday afternoon. We were talking about everything that has happened that last ten years. 4 moves, 2 wonderful children and tons of new nieces and nephews. We will see what the next 10 years brings!

So the exterminator is coming today. Mike has this extreme fear of spiders so he calls Scotts Lawn care to get rid of all little creatures around our house! Personally it doesnt bother me much but if it makes him feel better I guess its okay.

Well.....Happy Monday.

10 Weeks down........40 to go!!!

So I have successfully completed my first round of Med-Surg Clinicals! The exams were a little frightening but I got through them and my boxing gloves are on for round two! I really am enjoying nursing....I connect well with my patients, nurses and physicians.

What am I going to do for the next two weeks????? I am ready to get caught up on my life. First priority is getting Easter things together. I would like to get caught up on everything at home and maybe even do a little something relaxing for myself...........like maybe sleep.

Good luck Robin on all of your crazy stuff coming up! I admire your endless energy and being able to juggle a million things at one time.

So for some reason I completely forgot that my kids dont have school on Friday.......So I am working out childcare. Mikes got a birthday this weekend, along with Easter..........It will be a fun weekend!

My little man.............

So this week I reflected back to 5 years ago when my little Connor was born......He was such a surprise since I thought all along, ultrasound after ultrasound said "OH ITS ANOTHER LITTLE GIRL". The day that he was born I was, along with his dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends so surprised to meet this little guy that would warm all of our hearts over and over...............My life would not be complete without him. His smile, energy, messiness, loyalty and his little boy spirit. We celebrated his 5th birthday last night with our families and he was soooooooo excited. This morning he climbed into bed with me and snuggled up close and whispered " Mommy.........I had alot of fun last night, can we have another party today?" He spent all day today playing with his new toys. He brings me so much happiness........He told me yesterday and all day today that he wanted to get his haircut, so I gave in and cut his hair. After 6 months of growing it out...............yes, I cut it. His reasoning for this drastic change..........I want my hair to be like Papa Hoopies was on the cruise boat.....Yes, Papas little guy. So I am posting before and after pics. Happy Birthday Little Man (just a few days late :):):))

My expensive child

So there wasnt a whole lot to do yesterday....of course I have a ton of reading to do for school but I wasnt in the mood for that so I asked "M" what she wanted to do. She thought about it and then said " Lets go to Justice today...remember my new catalog that I got in the mail?....there is a lot of things I liked in it."  So I thought what the heck, its something to do. Its really fun to do things with her now. She likes to have little conversations and she wont be little long. Well, apparently Justice just got all of their spring stuff in and the stuff was soooo adorable. She picked out some things she wanted......some dangly star earrings in black, pink and white, a sweatshirt, a easter dress, jelly shoes ( oh so cute ) some bermudas and a shirt to go with them and the cutest little converse type shoes, socks, headbands and a fuzzy pink bathrobe that happened to be 7.99 on clearance. We had our little 20% coupon which she handed to the lady. Grand Total 186.00!!! Now I didnt think that this was too bad but apparently  "M" is clearly learning the value of money at school and she very loudly states " HOLY MOSES (not sure where she got that one from) ....mommy do you even have that much money?!!!" I quickly handed them my Visa and paid for the stuff. I am sure that my face was bright red!!! The stuff we do for for our girls. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Reading, Reading and more Reading

My life as I know it is all about reading.......

Assignment 1:  Read Chapter 23,24 and 25 Perry and Potter. The reading is relatively easy but OMG so many pages. I must say I am pleasantly surprised that all of the information is not very challenging just alot of stuff I guess.  I suppose my undergraduate work has completely prepared me for all of this technical information. I am happy about that.

This week has been good. PO meds, Clinical Med Calculations, Legal Ethical Issues, Vitals and Subcutaneous Injections. Do I have any volunteers????? :):):)Needle

OH the joy of Nursing.....This is going to be a fun ride.

Aleta.....Student Nurse

Stethescope So its taking me a little bit to get used to my drive. I realize that many people drive much farther for their everyday drives to work.....The week started off with my 40 minutes drive to the Lima OSU campus. I am so used to being on the U of F campus for so long that I feel a little lost on this much bigger campus. After finally finding where I was supposed to be I stood in line for my ID, Student Nurse ID and parking pass. As I was standing in line I had a chance to meet some of my lovely student colleagues. Yes, some of them were exceptional but others make me wonder.........who could seriously trust their life with these idiots!!! So I have been used to the rigor and strictness of the oh so wonderful OT program and man is the new program so much different. OT wanted to be in control all the time and what I am now doing is on the opposite end of the spectrum which is really how it is supposed to be. We are responsible for everything and we decide what is right for us and we are really treated as if we are adults. It was like a fresh breath of air for sure.Nursing_books_2

So class started and I find out that I have 6 more books to get which total around $500.....and the bookstore was temporarily out them.....Go figure...... So on Tuesday I worked and then had to be in Lima at 3:30 again only on Tuesday night I have lab until 8pm.....It was raining a flood and I was completely soaked by the time I got to my car.....Wednesday I worked at the hospital my regular time and now today is my day off.

I am at Lima Memorial on Saturday morning. I am not really nervous....There isnt much to be nervous about I guess. I think that most of what we have to do is vitals, blood pressure, etc. How the program works is Mon & Tues material is what you do that week in hospital clinical. Its nice because I am a hands on learning kind of girl.

So overall my first week went well.....I am sure that Saturday will be good as well. The drive sucks and I will spend about $100 on gas...so I am thinking I should trade my SUV in for little car that won't cost so much.

Well I am off to the treadmill....I started my excercise routine as well.....our trip to Florida in June is approaching.....

Nursing Rotations Begin

So the day has come and I am a bit nervous I guess......I am not really sure why I am nervous, maybe because it is something new and also something that I really never really saw myself doing. I know I will be good at it but I sure do wish it would really hurry up and be over. So I have been a student for let me calculate........

5 1/2 years full time  Oh my I really want to scream!  I do enjoy learning all kinds of new things. I have one degree under me a B.S. in Health Studies/ Mental Health, 1 year of Masters of OT which was a total nightmare, and now my RN clinical rotations. I will work on that for a total of 60 weeks with my summers off....Thank God but when its over I am not sure I will ever read another textbook again......Okay so enough of the bitching......I will start my fun days of medication conversions, patient care plans and IVs plus all of the messy stuff that I dont even want to get into.

Mike is tired of hearing me bitch, so are my friends and my sweet little girl came up to me tonight and said "Mommy.....since your are going to be a nurse does that mean that you get to give Connor all of his shots for school because if so I want to watch!" I dont think so little girl.......that wont be in my job description.

So its goodnight to all. Sweet Dreams.

Hannah Montana Fun Times!!!

Hannah_concert_2

Miley Cyrus Craziness........What a fun time!

Makenna is still talking about it!

Hannah_montana_027_4 We can say we were a part of it. The Hannah Montana-Miley Cyrus concert was great! The girls loved it. It was fun watching them dance and sing to the all the songs that they knew. We got to Cleveland a few hours before the concert, checked into our hotel which was fabulous because it was right across the street from the arena. We were ended up eating at the Harry Buffalo which was a really great pub right across from the arena also. There were so many people lined up just dying to get into the concert. We saw the moms dressed up as Hannah Montana which was a little over the top and then after spending a small fortune on a T-shirt, glow stick necklace and look alike back stage passes we made our way to our seats only to find someone already sitting in them. After a little intervention with a manager and once those people were removed from our seats we settled in for a really fun time.

So this is the expensive T-shirt. What was it ......$35.00??? OH well the girls loved it. They were pretty tired coming home yesterday. We decided to shop a little and made it home around 5 pm.

So all she has been talking about to everyone since she got home is " I cant believe that I actually saw Hannah Montana in real life!" Hannah_montana_022 We are still trying to get the glitter out of her hair!

Well this week starts a busy time for me. RN clinical rotations start....I am a little nervous but confident. I will update about all of that.

Well I am off to clean and get everything ready for Monday!

Smiles everyone!
